Go Lancers!!!

So last Friday was the first game of the season...wahoooo! Unfortunately my son didn't play in it....we weren't even there, I had to take my son and daughter to the airport for their dad's wedding. He was pretty upset that he wasn't going to be there but figured he probably wouldn't have played anyways because he is only a junior and the coach tends to play the seniors......or the really exceptional juniors.

All weekend I was dying to know how the game went.....I checked the school website and Maxpreps.com repeatedly but couldn't find anything out. Finally on Monday I went to Maxpreps.com again to try one last time....if it wasn't there I was just going to have to wait until my son got home from school to find out how the game went. But alas it was there and I could finally find out about the game...did we win, what was the score, etc?

The Lancers won!!! Ok...actually the Lancers spanked the other team. The score was 77-0. Yes you read that right 77 for the Lancers and a big fat goose egg for the other team. Holy cow....is there no mercy rule in high school football? Then I realized that had my son been there he most likely would have played....the coach eventually took out his starters and put in the back ups. Darn it! I would love to have seen my son playing!!!

So that's the good news....now for the bad news. The coach has been out for the last 2 days and my son has been hearing from his teammates that he was cut from the team for missing the game. He had clearance from his coach so I don't understand why he was cut......but in all honesty that is the way this coach works. He gave my son clearance to miss the game for his dad's wedding but then seeing the score decided that they obviously didn't need the players that weren't there. My son is going to talk to him today to see if this is true.....fingers crossed he is still on the team. Damn coach!

What a crappy coach! Hope it works out. I mean, what else would you do if you didn't have to drive to practices and games.........
