DH and I bought a new bedroom set for Christmas last year. In one of the drawers of my old dresser I kept odds and ends....just things that I kinda threw in there because one day I was going to get organized, which still hasn't happened. Anyways....in that drawer were things like some pictures of our trip to Jackson Hole, WY 7 years ago and some things my kids drew for me or wrote to me. To be honest with you I can't even remember what all was in there...but I do know that it was stuff that was important to me.
So.....when my oldest daughter moved out she wanted the dresser. In my attempt to just hurry up and get the dresser emptied for her I just put all of the stuff in that one drawer in a brown grocery bag and left it sitting in the garage. I'm sure you can see where this is going, right?
So last week DH got in one of his huffy moods because everyone kept putting stuff in the garage......he doesn't think the garage is a storage area, he thinks it should be a sparkling clean monument or something. He proceeds to load up stuff in the back of his truck to take to the garbage. I didn't think much of it at the time but for some reason yesterday I panicked......where was the brown bag?! I asked DH if he knew where it was and he asked if it had a bunch of belts in it as well as other stuff. Yes it did. "Ummmmmm......that went to the garbage last week." WHAT?!?! You threw away my stuff?! My pictures, my kids drawings? "I'm sorry....I thought it was garbage." Really? A bag with belts in it is garbage? Why would you think that a bag with belts is garbage? "Ummmmm....it looked like garbage."
Needless to say I am upset about this......I can't even remember what all was in there but I do know that if it was something that I didn't want I would have thrown it away myself. I'm not upset with him for actually throwing it away because I know that he didn't mean to and I really should have taken care of that bag months ago.......I'm upset because he didn't even ask me if it was anything I wanted before he took it upon himself to throw it away. I know it was in a brown grocery bag but it had belts in it.....that should have been a clue that it wasn't garbage.
Oh no........I just remembered something else that was in there. One of my kids made me a clay heart in school.....it was in there!!! Oh man honey.....why didn't you ask first?

Men...ya gotta love 'em.
That's totally something I would do.
Let me walk you through his thought process
'hmmmm.. what is this junk? I dunno... not mine... Prolly something Rhonda thinks she needs or wants to keep for no reason.. whatever, looks like junk to me, and there's too much junk in my precious garage. Gotta start somewhere'
Adios bag!
Bwhahahaha Courtney!!! How did you do that....you got into Jim's head and heard his thoughts.
Niiiiiiiice... Thanks honey, 'preciate you!!
LMAO @ Courtney!!!
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeen. :(
Rhonda, in a very similar incident my stepdad BURNED all of my baby pics and baby books, along with my mom's diplomas and a bunch of other sentimental items. It was a total accident, but 19 years later I'm not sure my mom has forgiven him yet!
