A little more notice would be nice.....

My son started school on Monday...wahooo....and he is on the varsity football team. Football practice started yesterday and when I picked my son up he informed me that he needed a physical clearance....ok, this is pretty typical but since he just had a sports physical and was cleared for last season does he really need another one this soon? Nothing major has happened to him :::knock on wood::: and couldn't they have informed me of this back when he was in weight training for the football team last month?! So until he has the physical clearance he is unable to practice.

I call Kaiser today and was told that they would be more than happy to fill out the form without an actual physical being performed because it has only been a year since his last one.....and their rule is if it's within 2 years it's fine, but she informs me that a lot of schools are no longer accepting it unless the physical has been done within the last 3 months. What? If it's ok with the doctor and the insurance company shouldn't it be ok with the school? Well guess when the next Sports Physical appointment is.......October 25th!! Football season will be almost over by then. A little advance notice about all of this would have been nice. Guess if the school is unable to accept the clearance with a physical that was performed a year ago I am just going to have to get one of the doctors that I work for to do it.
